The
DeMolay Alumni Association of the Philippines (DAAP) is a group of
professionals who are alumni of the International Order of DeMolay, a
fraternal Order of young men between the ages of 12 to 21. It is a non-stock, non-profit organization whose aim is to promote camaraderie among its members. Even
though the Order of DeMolay was introduced in the Philippines way back
1946, it was only in 1992 that the DAAP was formally organized. Since then over 35 chapters nationwide with over 2,000 active members have been organized.
Vision
The
DAAP envisions a dynamic and functional nationwide network of DeMolay
Alumni chapters are bonded by the principles of the Order of DeMolay to
become better men and citizens, a potent force in the growth and
development of our society.
Membership
Membership
of the DAAP are professionals with ages ranging from 22-60. They can
be found in a wide range of industries such as banking and finance,
engineering, medical, manufacturing, legal, academe, media,
telecommunication as well as government sector. Some of the well-known
DeMolays are movie director Joel Lamangan, Makati City Mayor Jejomar
Binay, singers Ely Buendia of the Eraserheads and Luke Mijares of the
Southborder, Lutayan Municipal mayor Suharto “Teng” Mangudadatu and many
others who are successful in their fields of endeavors who greatly
attributed the Order as one of the many reasons of their success.
Structure
The
DAAP is governed by a set of officers coming from Luzon, Visayas and
Mindanao. The Secretariat is located in Manila. The National Congress
(DANCON) is the annual highlight of the organization where the year’s
program of activities are deliberated and the set of officers are
elected biennially.
